Category C & D: Legacy economic write-off categories. Repair records and the vehicle’s present condition provide important context beyond the category itself.
Category N: Repairable non-structural damage. Safety-related components may still require assessment.
Category S: Repairable structural damage. The scope may require further specialist evidence or checks.

The categories describe a past insurance decision; they do not establish the quality of later repairs. An assessment does not remove a category marker, replace an MOT or guarantee acceptance by an insurer or licensing authority. Read the GOV.UK category guidance.

What is a damage consistency assessment?

Can a damage consistency report prove exactly how an accident happened?

Not necessarily. A report can identify whether damage appears consistent or inconsistent with a described event, but it should not claim certainty beyond the available physical and documentary evidence.

What evidence is useful for a damage consistency review?

Useful evidence can include clear photographs, vehicle details, the described sequence of events, repair records, estimates and any relevant correspondence. More complete information can help provide better technical context.

Can damage consistency be assessed from photographs?

Some matters can be reviewed from suitable photographs and supporting information, while others may require a physical inspection. We will advise which approach appears appropriate after reviewing the enquiry.

Can the report support an insurance or legal dispute?

An independent technical report can provide evidence and observations for consideration by insurers, solicitors or other parties. Whether it is accepted, relied upon or given particular weight is a decision for the recipient.
